Abdul meets some new
friends, Cheeser and Callie, who are selling tickets at the Convention
Center. They arrange for him to meet some bigtime Hollywood movie
directors. Next

Penny Spheeris ("Wayne's World") is smitten
with Abdul. "She's cool!" declared
Abdul.
D. A. Pennebaker ("War Room", "Monterrey Pop") listens
to Abdul discuss his career as a director. "He wants to do
a documentary about me!" lied the bear. Next

|
Abdul is very excited to meet Doris Wishman, a
trailblazing director of such 60's classics as "Nude on the
Moon" and "Blaze Starr Goes Wild". She has been
called "the female Ed Wood" and Abdul is a big fan. Next
|
|
Abdul runs into The Masked
Director, Gregor, who directed the future cult classic "The
Trouble with Lou". "Excellent mask"
commented Abdul. He then attended the session with very cool
directors Robert Rodriguez (Desperado) and Richard Linklater (Dazed and
Confused). Abdul tries to explain why he should substitute for the
missing Quentin Tarantino.
"He's cool. He'd WANT me to do it!" insisted
Abdul. Next

|
After the session, Richard Linklater tries to kiss
Abdul. "Cool it, you slacker!" protested the
bear.

Robert Rodriguez gives Abdul a hug.
Abdul steals Robert's notes and.... Next

...Robert's hat. Back at home, Abdul is clutching
his favorite memento of SXSW 2001, his copy of "Nude on the
Moon" autographed by Doris Wishman!
(Note to the directors: "I'm available for cameo roles!")
